SHUBHANKAR BAWEJA
Shubhankar is Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public and founder of Amberstone Law. Shubhankar was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2023 having been already called to the Bar council in India in 2013. With more than 10 years of diverse result oriented practice both in India and Canada, he specializes in Real Estate, Civil Litigation and Family Law Matters.
Born and raised in Chandigarh, India, Shubhankar completed his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2013, specializing in Indian Common Law at Kurukshetra University, Haryana, India. Upon being called to the bar in September 2013, he swiftly commenced his legal career as an Associate Lawyer at the prestigious ARTLO (A.R.Takkar Law Offices) in Chandigarh, India. In this role, Shubhankar groomed his skills in litigation, taking on cases related to real estate, family law, and constitutional matters before the Punjab & Haryana High Court starting early 2014.
By September 2016, Shubhankar ventured into independent practice, representing major corporate entities in the real estate sector, including DPL Homes, Citi Tech Townships, DLF India, and Spelndor Landbase. He became well-regarded for challenging governmental actions that ran afoul of the Indian Constitution on behalf of affected individuals.
Over his career spanning from September 2013 to May 2022, Shubhankar showcased exceptional ability in criminal matters. He successfully advocated for individuals in prolonged custody, securing their release on bail. Additionally, he handled various anticipatory bail cases involving serious charges, earning recognition for his contributions to several crucial judgments by the Punjab & Haryana High Court.
In June 2022, Shubhankar made a significant move to Calgary, having enrolled as an NCA student in September 2021. He successfully fulfilled the NCA requirements in October 2022 and holds a Certificate of Qualification from The Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Recognized by the Law Society of Alberta as a Student-at-Law, he commenced his journey with a 40 year old Calgary based law firm in July 2022, initially serving as a paralegal until January 17, 2023, when he officially began his articles.
Fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, and English, he brings a diverse linguistic skill set to his legal practice. In his time off from work, Shubhankar enjoys playing Playstation, watch cricket and loves to explore new places.
