Shubhankar Baweja (“Shub”) is the Founder and Managing Lawyer of Amberstone Law, representing individuals, business owners, and corporations in high-conflict civil disputes, commercial litigation, and real estate-driven claims.

His practice is focused on commercial closings and dispute protection, including business purchases and sales, asset and share transactions, shareholder buyouts and buy-ins, and corporate restructurings.

His practice also includes contract disputes, shareholder and governance conflicts, construction and commercial liability claims. He is known for direct advice, clean drafting, and building strong files that do not collapse under pressure.

Shub regularly appears before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench, and he has experience at the Alberta Court of Appeal level. His litigation approach is defined by strong early strategy, disciplined pleadings, structured settlement positioning, and courtroom advocacy designed to move matters toward resolution, or trial, without wasted motion.

Professional Journey

  • India (2013–2022): Completed LL.B. (Honours) at Kurukshetra University and was admitted to the Bar in 2013. Practiced Litigation in Chandigarh for 9 years, appearing at multiple court levels in civil, constitutional, family, and real estate matters.
  • Canada (2022–present): Relocated to Calgary in 2022, completed the NCA accreditation process, and articled at a boutique law firm in Calgary while finishing CPLED. Admitted to the Alberta Bar in December 2023 and founded Amberstone Law, focusing on litigation and transactional work.

Karanbir Dhariwal

Karan is a Barrister & Solicitor at Amberstone Law, representing business owners, corporations, and professionals in corporate-commercial transactions and high-stakes civil litigation.

His practice is built for clients who need structure, leverage, and results.

Karan advises on commercial matters including share structures, corporate reorganizations, asset and share purchase transactions, business dissolutions, mergers and acquisitions, and risk-allocation agreements. He is routinely retained on files where the deal must be engineered properly the first time and enforced aggressively if it isn’t.

On the litigation side, Karan handles contractual disputes, commercial claims, construction and contractor conflicts, real estate disputes, and other matters where financial exposure and business continuity are on the line. He is known for disciplined legal analysis, precise drafting, and steady advocacy in complex and high-conflict disputes.

Before law, Karan worked in business and corporate sales, giving him a clear understanding of how legal decisions impact cash flow, negotiations, and long-term commercial outcomes. His approach is direct and execution-focused designed to protect his clients’ position.

Karan holds a Juris Doctor (Griffith University, Australia) and was called to the bar in February 2025. He regularly appears before the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench. He is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, allowing him to serve a broad client base with clarity and authority.

ASHIMA DAWAR

(LEGAL MANAGEMENT TEAM)

Bringing a wealth of expertise in Information Technology and Management garnered from esteemed organizations in both India and Canada, Ashima plays the most important role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the firm.

Hailing from the quaint town of Samana in District Patiala, Punjab, India, Ashima earned her Bachelor’s in Engineering from Chitkara University in 2013, a distinguished institution in North India. Her professional journey began with one of the world’s largest IT companies, where she excelled as a computer engineer and assumed leadership responsibilities, managing a team of over 15 individuals for three years.

Ashima seamlessly integrates her extensive management skills into Amberstone Law, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both clients and team members. Adding to her academic achievements, she attained the top rank and was honored with a Gold Medal upon completing her Masters in Engineering from Kurukshetra University, another esteemed institution in North India. Joining Amberstone Law in late 2023, Ashima continues to contribute her exceptional management skills to the growth and success of the firm.

Ashima fluently speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi and in her free time, she loves to try new cuisines, travel across the globe and maintains healthy regime for herself.

Avneet Kaur 

Avneet serves as a Legal Assistant and Commissioner for Oaths at Amberstone Law, where she provides essential administrative and legal support across the firm’s practice areas. Her responsibilities include assisting with legal document preparation, organizing case files, coordinating client communication, and supporting counsel with research and procedural requirements.

Avneet is an active member of the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals (AAPP) and is currently pursuing her paralegal education to further strengthen her legal knowledge and professional capabilities. Her dedication to continuous learning enhances her ability to support both clients and the legal team effectively, while contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of service provided by the firm.

 

Outside her professional role, Avneet is actively involved in volunteer initiatives within the City of Calgary and local community associations. She contributes her time to facilitating meditation classes and leading women’s empowerment programs.

Avneet is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi which allows her to serve a broad client base with clarity.
